Ted Kaptchuk
Ted Kaptchuk, author of The Web That Has No Weaver, Understanding Chinese Medicine, has written over one hundred scientific and medical articles. He holds appointments in prominent universities and is an active researcher. Currently, he is serving a four-year term on the National Advisory Council of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a term as expert advisor for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning acupuncture and placebo controls.
Kaptchuk earned a Doctor of Chinese Medicine degree from the Macau Institute of Chinese Medicine in 1975.
Efrem Korngold, L.Ac., O.M.D.,
and Harriet Beinfield L.Ac
Efrem Korngold, L.Ac., O.M.D. and Harriet Beinfield, L.Ac. are two of the foremost Chinese traditional medicine educators and practitioners in America, and co-authors of Between Heaven and Earth, A Guide to Chinese Medicine. In 1972, they began their studies at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in England. After that, Korngold studied herbal medicine at the Kunming Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute and at the Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shu Guang Hospital. They are on the faculty of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Diplomates of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), teaching in both the USA and in Europe. Korngold has taught at the San Francisco College of Acupuncture and at San Francisco State University. They have lectured at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, Andrew Weil's Program in Integrative Medicine, Beth Israel Hospital in New York, and the Office of Alternative Medicine/NIH, while remaining actively engaged in the practice of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at their clinic in San Francisco, Chinese Medicine Works. Korngold is on the Advisory Board of the California Association of Naturopathic Physicians (CANP). Beinfield is on the Advisory Board of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) Education Grant to incorporate alternative therapies into the medical school curriculum at UCSF, Natural Health Magazine, and serves on the Editorial Board of Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, and Explore, The Journal of Science and Healing.
Giovanni Maciocia, CAc.
Giovanni Maciocia, CAc. is one of the most highly respected practitioners of Chinese acupuncture and herbal medicine in the West. With qualifications in acupuncture and herbal medicine, and postgraduate study in acupuncture in China, as well as literate in Chinese, Maciocia has combined a thorough knowledge of Chinese medicine with 30 years of clinical experience. He has published many articles in professional journals and taught acupuncture and Chinese medicine in several schools worldwide. He is a Visiting Professor at the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a foremost teaching institute in China. Maciocia currently runs a clinic of Chinese herbal medicine in Amersham, England. As both a teacher and writer, Maciocia is recognized as a moving force in the transition period of East Asian medicine to the Western arena. His contributions of scholarship and clinical acumen are represented in his books: The Foundations of Chinese Medicine, The Practice of Chinese Medicine, Tongue Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Chinese Medicine, The Three Treasures, and Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine.
Z'ev Rosenberg, L.Ac., O.M.D.
Z'ev Rosenberg, L.Ac., O.M.D., Chairman of the Department of Herbal Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego, California, has been practicing Chinese medicine in the USA for 20 years. He is trained in both Chinese and Western herbal medicine, having studied Chinese medicine at Southwest Acupuncture College, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Emperor's College of Oriental Medicine, Santa Monica, California, and Western herbal medicine at the Institute of Traditional Medicine, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
