We have recently discontinued this product. However, as a substitute, our herbalists are recommending using Cinnamon Twig Decoction, (Gui Zhi Tang), Kudzu Releasing Formula (Ge Gen Tang) or Dispel invasion (Jing Fang Bai Du San). All three have spicy warm-release exterior herbs appropriate for early stage wind invasion.

    Description:

An early sign of an impending External Cold Invasion is developing sensitivity and aversion to drafts and cold and damp weather. In addition to feeling cold, a person may experience occasional sensitivity of the skin and muscles.

Becoming overheated from strenuous effort or from being in a warm environment or even from eating hot and spicy food can induce subtle, imperceptible perspiration as the body attempts to cool down. This perspiration is evidence of the opening of the body’s surface, making it vulnerable to external influences such as Wind, Cold and Damp that penetrates the skin and muscles via the superficial Yang channels of the Urinary Bladder, Gallbladder, Small Intestine and Triple Burner. An antidote to this is produced if the sub-dermal layer of the body can be quickly warmed, causing perspiration to cease and the pores of the skin to close so that the Cold, Wind and Damp are expelled from the body’s exterior.

    RATIONALE

Together, Chinese cinnamon twig, Welsh onion bulb, Ginger rhizome and Haizhou elsholtzia herb, also known as Summer ma huang, expel Wind and Cold from the body’s exterior layer by warming Qi and Blood circulation in the skin, muscle and collateral vessels (Luo Mai). Thus, the Wei (defensive Qi) is activated and the Exterior influences are expelled.

Kudzu root and prepared Soybean seed relax occasional spasms of the nerves and muscles and calm occasional agitation, as well as assisting the primary herbs in releasing the exterior. Kudzu root and prepared Soybean seed are also nutritive ingredients that, along with Chinese licorice root and rhizome, supplement Ying (nutritive Qi). Supporting Ying benefits Wei (defense Qi), thus helping to support the body’s overall resistance and resilience.
